The Gracie Barra Women's Program combines a comprehensive self-defense curriculum with emphasis on drills that simulate realistic attack and escape situations. More and more we hear of desperate situations that male and female victims find themselves in, the media becomes more and more scary and we want women particularly to come in to what is usually perceived as a male dominated environment – a martial art school – and feel safe, and welcome as well as leaving with the knowledge and skills they hopefully wont need to use!
Aside from all classes offered in our Gracie Barra Program Structure, our school offers a set of classes designed to introduce women to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As a martial art designed to allow the weaker to defeat the stronger, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a perfect fit for women who are interested in learning how to protect themselves.
The techniques are complemented by a strong fitness component that is second to none compared to classes offered in regular gyms.
Classes specially designed for women and our team events and “get togethers” are added benefits to the ordinary Gracie Barra activities and create a strong bond between the members!
Of course all female students are more than welcome in all standard classes also and many of our female members have loved learning the self defence side so much they have taken to the competitive sport jiu jitsu!
